Ontario PCs Lowering Costs for Commuters

Doug Ford and the Ontario PC team are banning highway tolls and eliminating double transit fares to keep more money in your pocket.

Whether you drive to work or take public transit, we’re making your commute more affordable.

At a time of continued economic uncertainty, our PC team is using every tool available to lower costs for hardworking families and businesses. That means permanently removing tolls from Highway 407 East, banning new tolls on provincial highways, permanently cutting the gas tax and making transit more affordable through One Fare.

Households are saving about $115 every year from the removal of tolls, while daily drivers who use Highway 407 East can save up to $7,200 annually.

For transit riders, our One Fare program has eliminated double fares when transferring between participating local transit systems and GO Transit. That means daily commuters can save up to $1,600 every year simply by paying once for their trip.

It’s all part of our plan to make life more affordable while giving people more choices for getting where they need to go.

The Ontario Liberals have a long history of making life more expensive with higher taxes and fees. Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are taking a different approach.

We will never add a new tax or toll to any provincial road in Ontario.

We’ll keep lowering costs, expanding transportation options and building the roads, highways and transit our growing province needs. Whether you drive or take transit, Ontario’s PC team are keeping more money in your pocket and keeping Ontario moving.
